Site Controls Customers Respond to Critical Energy Crisis Stemming from California Wildfires

AUSTIN, TX — October 30, 2007 Site Controls, LLC, a premium provider of enterprise-based energy management, operational intlligence, and grid efficiency solutions released information today pertaining to last Wednesday’s grid emergency resulting from the fires in Southern California.

With the fire-related failure of a major electric transmission line into San Diego, California issued an urgent call Wednesday for emergency energy conservation. Site Controls, working collaboratively with its customers, responded by quickly and automatically reducing demand for electricity in the affected areas.  Leveraging its web-based distributed control systems in 66 participating commercial locations, Site Controls and its customers eliminated over three megawatt-hours of peak electrical demand from the California grid.

The Site Controls system intelligently manages electrical loads, allowing the customers to set business rules to implement demand response first in areas that are least impactful to the overall operation of their businesses.  The typical demand response event is non-consequential or transparent within a facility.  During last week’s event, our customers volunteered to aggressively reduce demand in order to respond to the emergency and keep the region’s electrical grid operational until the emergency had passed.
